Abandoned Lines and Stations
A miscellaneous collection of photos of disused stations and lines throughout East Anglia. Much has changed. Some of the stations no longer exist having disappeared under housing estates and road improvements. Bridges and other infrastructure are disappearing at an increasing rate, although some of the Victorian architecture has been preserved. References used for dates and information unless otherwise stated, Forgotten Railways (East Anglia) R.S. Joby and A Regional History of The Railways of Great Britain Volume 5 by D.I. Gordon.

Twenty
The remote Twenty Station was located between Borne and Spalding on the M and GN and was named after a close by waterway, The photographer is travelling on a westbound train towards Bourne on the last day of passenger services, 28th February 1959. A good view of the buildings on the Down platform has been recorded. The fairly large station house can be seen adjacent to the crossing gates. To the extreme right, with the fire buckets is the timber built tariff shed. Between the two is a cast iron gents toilet with patterned panels for the door. Next to it is a M and GN oil lamp with the station name printed on the glass. Trellis fencing provides the rear boundary.
