Murrow
Murrow Cambridgeshire. Track bed of the M and G N line. Ahead, to the west was the line to Eye and, Peterborough and behind, the line to Wisbech which crossed the March to Spalding line on the level. The line to the immediate left was a spur which joined the March to Spalding line towards March. It was used for freight between Eye and Dogsthorpe Brickworks and Whitemoor. Only the still existing bracket signal post gives any indication that this was once a railway line. The signal had a home and a distant for the Wisbech direction and a home for the right curve towards the March direction. The curve was installed in December 1960. The line to Eye closed in July 1966, the line to Wisbech closing in October 1965. Today this is a road called Long Drove and somebody has refitted the signals plus an adjacent signal box which is believed to be Horsemoor. See next photo.
The area to the right is now a builders merchants. Image dated 10th May 1980.
