Laxfield
Laxfield, Suffolk. Terminus of the Mid Suffolk Light Railway. The image shows part of the station buildings after track removal. To the right is the lock up store which once carried the station nameboard. The buildings to the left of it housed the parcels store and booking office, with an ornate canopy over part of the platform which was 130ft long. To the extreme right of this building was a gentleman's toilet. In common with most buildings on the line the structures at Laxfield were timber framed, cladded with corrugated iron. Across the former track, opposite, was a cattle and loading dock. The line carried on from here terminating at Laxfield Mill with crossing gates near the end of the platform, protecting the Laxfield to Sradbroke road. All traffic on the line ceased on July 28th 1952.
