  • Lowestoft Central exterior view on 1st March 1980.  The blue BR Eastern Region nameboard remains to this day. To the right of the station building is the old location of KFC much frequented in the mid seventies.
  • Wickham Market Junction Signal Box on the East Suffolk Line.c1965. This was the junction for the Framlingham Branch. Behind the box is Blackstock Crossing. Photo Brian Leighton.
  • Leaving Beccles for Yarmouth. The engine shed is prominent in the distance. Photo Brian Leighton.  Date unknown, but probably around 1959 when the Yarmouth South Town line closed. Looking at the number of tracks in the picture it's quite remarkable that today there is basically only one remaining, two if you count the station passing loop.
  • The 1248 Ipswich to Lowestoft arrives at Darsham on 30th March 1976. At this time the station lamps were being replaced. The old lamps from the fifities stand alongside  the new ones.  See next photo.
  • Beccles
  • An 03 class shunter heads a short freight along the Kirkley Goods line from Oulton Broad South Junction. The line at this point ran parallel with Victoria Road. Photo taken from Colville Road.Date and photographer unknown. Probably c1968.
  • Oulton Broad Swing Bridge Signal Box with mile post 116.  Photo Adrian Bond,
  • The "Iron bridge" carried a footpath over the railway from Denmark Road to Commercial Road, pictured on 29th November 2014, a few weeks away from demolition by Network Rail. ( Bridge removed 24th-25th December 2014) The bridge was closed to pedestrian traffic in May 2005 being deemed unsafe. The view is from Commercial Road,  with the houses in Denmark Road in the background. Photo with kind permission of Ashley Gardiner.  The previous two photos were taken from this bridge.

  • This building close to Woodbridge station now comprises retail units, but was originally a grain store with railway access through an entrance to the left and a further siding to the left of the building. It has been extensively modernised and transformed from its original state. Image viewed from the down platform.  31st August 2016.
  • Woodbridge. After an excellent plate of cod and chips at the Station Café, I ventured onto the down platform to record Turbostar 170202 arriving with the 1307 ex Lowestoft.  31st August 2016.
  • View from the Woodbridge footbridge facing north on 29th June 1979. The 1448 Ipswich to Lowestoft is passing Ferry Lane Crossing. To the right of the concrete crossing gate post was the route of the Woodbridge to Melton tramway.
