  • Halesworth Signal Box.  21st June 1976. The box now resides at Mangapps Museum after spending time at   Halesworth Middle School playing field.
  • The 1050 Lowestoft to Ipswich stands at Halesworth.  18th June 1977
  • Halesworth facing Darsham on 18th June 1977. A road used to cross in the middle distance and part of the platform was pivoted to swing across the tracks to allow passage of road traffic. A new bridge was later built making the crossing redundant.
  • Brampton on 24th September 1975, facing Beccles.The down platform with the shelter has now been demolished, but the shelter has been rescued and now resides at The Mangapps Museum at Burnham on Crouch.  <a href="http://www.mangapps.co.uk/">http://www.mangapps.co.uk/</a>  The shelter was originally from Great Ormesby station in Norfolk on the M and GN.
  • Lowestoft Central on 30th August 1980 with 37088 departing from platform four, in charge of the 1030 Summer Saturdays only to Liverpool Street via the East Suffolk Line. Photo taken with a 200mm lens from the footbridge.
  • Dwarfed by tower cranes on rig construction work, the 0904 from Ipswich approaches it's destination at Lowestoft.  30th August 1980. Photo taken from the footbridge linking Denmark Road and Commercial Road (Iron Bridge). Coke Ovens Junction where the line to Yarmouth diverged is to the right behind the trees. Pictures of the footbridge in the next two photos.
  • Beccles facing Lowestoft from the footbridge. Note the bay platform on the left originally used by Waveney Valley Line trains and the engine shed in the distance, top right.  28th June 1979. The engine shed was demolished in 2006.
  • Taking the dog for a walk across Normanston Park, Lowestoft, I always tried to time it to see the London train and on this particular day I made it. 47009 leaves Oulton Broad Junction with the 1650 Liverpool Street to Lowestoft.  16th June 1976

  • Brampton facing south. The Down platform no longer exists as the line is now single track at this point. The station shelter can be seen at Mangapps Museum, Burnham on Crouch. Image dated 28th June 1979. Brampton lost its freight facilities on 13th July 1964.
  • Beccles looking South.  28th June 1979. The bay platform used by Waveney Valley Line trains can be seen to the right.
  • Wickham Market facing South on 28th June 1979.
  • The 1255 Lowestoft to Ipswich arrives at Halesworth on 29th June 1979. The blue running in board showing Halesworth for Southwold.
  • Westerfield Junction on 27th June 1979 with the 1455 from Lowestoft approaching the station. The Felixstowe branch diverges to the right behind the signal box. The signal box closed on 22nd March 1999 when the Felixstowe branch was resignalled and controlled from Colchester Power Box.
  • View from Wickham Market Bridge on 28th June 1979. The 1048 Lowestoft to Ipswich is arriving at the now abandoned Up platform. The disused goods shed can be seen in the background.
  • The 1255 Lowestoft to Ipswich stands at Halesworth on 28th June 1979. The buildings on the Up platform have now been demolished.

  • The Leyland Experimental Vehicle RDB975874 was trialed on the East Suffolk Line during 1980. It stands at Ipswich in October of that year after arrival from Lowestoft
  • The 1450 Lowestoft to Ipswich passes the Beccles South Signal Box.  28th June 1979.
