Newport

This is the Madina Quay and the site of a railway bridge with brick piers which once crossed the River Madina, to the right. A drawbridge was incorporated in the design to allow tall masted ships to pass through. Newport station was just to the right. Today the Newport bypass (Medina Way) passes over. Rather less attractive than the Victorian railway bridge. To the left was a lovely viaduct on the former approach from Sandown. All long gone.
