  • The 1024 Norwich to Lowestoft arrives at Somerleyton on 6th September 1979. In the distance can be seen the swing bridge signal box.
  • 1115 Lowestoft to Norwich departs from Somerleyton towards the swing bridge. 6th September 1979 The swing bridge signal box conntrolled the signals at the station.
  • 31205 heads a Lowestoft bound freight at Somerleyton.  14th June 1977.

  • Oulton Broad North on 20th February 1976. The Cravens unit is forming the 1115 Lowestoft to Norwich. Little has changed here to the present day, but the George Borrow pub above the unit no longer serves ale.

  • The 1235 Lowestoft to Norwich near Oulton Broad North on 16th February 1976. The cravens unit is running parallel with Caldecott Road, giving a fine view of Oulton Broad from the train. The shot is from Commodore Road, the area in the foreground  now housing. This was an opportunistic shot. I happened to have my camera ready after a lunchtime pint in The Wherry Hotel.

  • Layout at Lowestoft on 11th July 2011. A Norwich train is signalled out from platform 3 whilst the nearer signal is for Ipswich trains from Platform 2. Trains for Yarmouth South Town used platform 1 which is the trackless platform to the right. Curiously although this service closed over 40 years ago the platforms haven't been renumbered the platform numbers starting at 2.
  • Lowestoft central on 12th July 2011. Turbostar 170208 stands at Platform 2, forming the next Ipswich service. A Norwich train is about to depart from platform 3 with 156409. After removal of the overall roof there is now no shelter for passengers.
