  • View from the A143 road bridge at Haddiscoe on 29th November 1975. The 1202 Norwich to Lowestoft is approaching the station. The Haddiscoe Yard signal box is no longer with us and I wish I'd got a close up pic while I had the opportunity. The New Cut runs to the left with the River Waveney in the distance. In the middle of the river, in the distance, can be seen the central pillar of the St Olaves Swing Bridge where the Beccles to Yarmouth South Town line once crossed at that point. On the sky line to the right of the pillar the signal box controlling the swing bridge and Haddiscoe High Level station can just be made out.

  • One of the joys of travelling in first generation dmus was the view of the track from each end of the train. This is the view of Somerleyton Swing Bridge from the rear of a Cravens class 105 on a Norwich to Lowestoft working.
